Off the record,
the fiction here is good. If you read the latest Playboy college fiction it isn't.
Just what exactly is this winner, Yael Schoenfeld saying? I've given up on Playboy

Judi, For the love
of books -- what a great site you have created. I recommend two of my favorites,
one old and one new. Please read Sarah Orne Jewett's "The Country of the Pointed
Firs" for that quintessential New England experience. My new favorite is "The
Girl With A Pearl Earring by Tracy Chevalier. It's creates a world reminiscent
of a Vermeer interior.

Elvis has the smart
talk of philip marlowe but not the style in that although he has experienced romantic
sadness he really hasn't loved in the way that chandler forced marlowe through.
pike is a little bit of a two dimensional charecter as the strenght becomes its
own weakness. Having said that elvis is a good person (perhaps too good) and at
least as in reality the bad guys do sadly win most of the time

I want to recommend
the new book written by Paula Boyd, HOT ENOUGH TO KILL. This is a marvelously
funny book, great mystery and quirky characters in a small Texas town. The author
writes in the same vein as Hiaasen, Evanovich, and Hansen. Funny, funny, funny.
Also, has anyone any idea how to contact Rick Hansen? Love having a place to talk
to other readers, so please feel free to email me.
