Give the Gift of Reading!

Of course, kids can (and do) learn to read without using the computer, but by combining the two activities, the child learns to get around a computer with ease AND learns the basics for reading (or whatever the focus of the program). We give computer learning software to the kids every year. My youngest niece started to read her own books in kindergarten. I think it is her own innate fascination with letters and words, but I'd also like to think that these programs helped that awareness.

I like these software packages because they are actually a little difficult. I just wished that they were better named since the boys liked playing them once they got into it, but were a little insulted that I didn't get them a "real" computer game.
